I realized this truth at some point along the years of making custom lockets, wedding bands, and all sorts of other jewelry for my custom clients. I also know that being at the bench is my natural habitat, and that sending my jewelry out into the world on the bodies of awesome human beings brings me great joy. The stream of feedback from my clients sharing ways that my work has uplifted their spirits, strengthened their relationships, and honored their stories is, well, better than ice cream.
These are the reasons I decided to expand my business by venturing into the wholesale marketplace.
But, I wanted to do it my way.
I didn’t want to outsource production. I didn’t want to lose my place at the bench. I wanted to maintain my intimate connection to each design.
So, I expanded my studio to include lost wax casting. I began to streamline my processes and seek clarity on which designs had sold well over the years and why. I started writing down the themes I saw in my clients and noting the individual narratives that were actually threads in a universal woven narrative.
The GMA Signature Collection is produced in limited production amounts in my studio in North Carolina. Each piece is still exquisitely handmade to my standards, with narrative as the driver, and the GMA aesthetic riding shotgun.
This. This is my why.
